How to get the best price for your gold jewelry

There are a lot of gold buyers out there. Most don't pay very well. It is important to compare prices before you sell. Many buyers won't tell you what they pay over the phone. If they won't tell you their price (in dollars per gram for $14 karat) they are ripping you off. Tapper's used to quote their price over the phone now they won't. Would you trust someone who won't tell you the price they pay?

Max Your Gold broadcasts the price they pay on the radio. They are confidant that they have the best prices. Call and compare then you will visit Max Your Gold at 12 Mile and Telegraph in the comerica tower or call 877 YES MAX 1.

A local pawn shop recommends Max Your Gold

A customer came in a few days ago. He had been to a competitor a couple miles down the road. They had asked how much are you looking for? This is a question used to determine the sophistication of the customer. An unsophisticated customer would have been offered less. Max Your Gold advertises our price. Then we test and weigh everything in front of you. We don't pay customers with less knowledge less money.

Our customer just wanted a quote. He wasn't looking for a specific amount of money. Luckily our customer knew one of the employees at the store. He started talking with her. See got his cell phone number and texted him. Once again a competitors employee recommended Max Your Gold.

Max Your Gold much better gold prices than a pawn shop

A customer came in today to sell a chain. He had bought it the same day at a pawn shop. We paid the customer $70 more than he had bought the chain for. Hello?! We paid more than the pawn shop sold it for! Imagine the poor fellow who originally sold it to the pawn shop. Pawn shops like to say they can't quote a price without seeing the item. Don't you think some who advertises the price they pay is paying more (a lot more!).

gold seller's distance recommendation

Because we have the best price for gold jewelry people drive fairly long distances to sell their gold to us. We have had a number of customers from Canada. Today a woman drove from Wheatly Ontario to sell her gold to us. It was over an hour drive but it was worth it for her to spend that time to make the drive.

In just the last day we have already had gold sellers from Clinton Township, Dexter, Ontario, Fraser, Greenbrier and Shelby township sell their gold to us. Of course we have many customers much closer but you can trust the people who are spending their time and gas money to come to Max Your Gold.

Sell gold small amount, great price

Many gold buyers don't treat people with small amounts of gold fairly. We advertise our price and we honor it for even very small amounts of gold. Today an older lady from Detroit came to Max Your Gold. She didn't have very much gold. After we tested it and weighed it we asked her to guess how much we would pay her. Maybe she had been treated poorly somewhere else. Her first guess was $15 dollars. It took about six guesses before she even came close to what we offered her. When we told her $272 dollars she said "God Bless you!". We could have easily told her a smaller amount. I'm sure a lot of gold buyers do just that. I would rather hear God Bless You from a customer than treat people unfairly.

Best price for gold jewelry

In a recent Ruth to the Rescue report "How to Sell Your Gold" Max your gold offered the most for gold. Five metro detroit buyers were tested undercover. They all claimed to pay the most but Max Your Gold paid the most by far.

The point is that an advertisement can say anything. Max Your gold advertises the price we pay per gram for 14 karat gold on radio and on the web. We are proud of the price pay. Today we had a customer come in, Chuck from Oak Park. He had found a merchant who advertised on the web they were paying a slightly higher price than us. When he went there they wouldn't honor the price. They wouldn't let Chuck watch the testing and weighing of the jewelry. Does that seem like the right way to treat a customer?

Max Your gold pays the most in Michigan. We are happy to let you watch the testing and weighing of your merchandise.

The more you know the better we like it.

How to sell your gold jewelry

If you are thinking of selling your gold jewelry you have lots of choices. There is a huge difference in what different buyers pay. Be a smart seller.

First your need to know a few terms.
Karat is the purity of the gold. 24 karat is pure gold. So 14 karat is 58.33% pure.
Gram is a familiar metric weight that is often used to price gold jewelry.
Troy ounce is 31.08 grams and is used for pricing gold bullion (bars and coins).
Penny weight is 1/20 of a troy ounce.

Comparing the price that different buyers pay can be difficult.
Many buyers won't tell you what they pay. They say they have to see the item. If they are keeping the price they pay secret do you think they are paying a good price??

How are prices quoted? Because many pieces of jewelry are very light the price is usually quoted in dollars per gram and karat. For example a jewelry store might quote $12 per gram for 14 karat gold. There will be a different price for 10 and 18 karat proportional to the 14 karat price.

Some buyers will quote penny weights. This is usually done to confuse the seller. The penny weight price will sound like more. For example $16 per penny weight for fourteen karat sounds like more than$12 per gram for 14 karat but it is actually quite a bit less. Actually $18.64 per penny weight for 14 karat is the same as $12 per gram for 14 karat. Be very careful of buyers quoting in penny weights.

Buyers should be very open about testing and weighing your jewelry. You should be able to watch the process and ask questions. This is of course a problem for the mail buyers. Mailing is a risky business. Would you send money in the mail? When you mail you lose control of the transaction. One person we talked to didn't like the amount she was sent and canceled the transaction. Then she didn't get everything back.

Once you understand the numbers shop by phone.

If you follow these simple steps you will be able to max your gold!

P.S. Max Your Gold is currently paying $16.50 per gram for 14 karat gold
